The Journey to Get a New 171

14 Aug 2015

Yesterday hb went to Maybank SS14 Subang to sign the loan agreement. The agreement actually came from Muar as the car loan was taken from that branch and they had to courier the documents to a Maybank here to that hb can sign and they can verify the hirer's thumprint.

The reason we took a loan from a bank so far away from here?
Well, it is actually because Maybank Muar was the only one entertaining my queries to obtain to a loan for the new car. Prior to that I had already call Maybank Bangsar, the contact given by En. Wahab from Honda Malaysia, and Maybank Section 14 Shah Alam. I call Maybank Bangsar but was not picked up, and my message was never replied. Section 14 said at 1st they cannot process the loan because Honda Malaysia was not one of the dealer in their list. They ask us to confirm whether Honda can issue an invoice or not. If yes, then they can  process. Not satisfied, I then called Maybank Muar to verify the process. They said the same but they went further by giving me detail explanation on the process and how they arrive at the rate offered. The rate will be from 2.45 to 2.6 depending on a few conditions. Cik or Puan Hanis and her staff Suhaila were very helpful. I've dealt with Suhaila since I took loan for the Civic back in 2008. The loan had been settled in June 2015.

We decided on the Accord based on a few factors:
1) Hb is entitled for staff discount;
2) We want a car bigger than the Civic;
3) The current Accord had a nice design;
4) Other MPV/SUV would be too expensive. The one that is affordable do not have nice design.

We were undecided on the colors, whether silver or modern steel and we finally decided on Modern Steel color. Hb had to fill up a form as staff purchase and the sale had to be done through Honda Malaysia and not its dealers. Only delivery of the car will be done through the dealer (HZN Glenmarie chosen by us).

After that we had to get all documents ready i.e. 3 months salary slip, bank statement to show the salary credited into the account, EA form, confirmation as employee of DRB, copy of IC and driving licence. All docs are merely sent to Cik Hanis via Whatsapp! Technology helps *smile*.

As there is no rush to get the car as we did not trade in our Civic, we decided to tender the plate no. Decided on WB 171 X which application will closed on 23 June 2015 and the result was released on 22 July 2015. I had to fill up the MV form downloaded from JPJ website, make money order for half on the tender amount (RM225), self addressed envelope wit RM1 stamp and deliver the document by hand to En. Khairun from Honda who came to UMW to collect.

We were successful in the tender however the letter to inform that we were successful never came. That's the reason I had to brace the traffic jam and the sesat barat to settle the matter. I went out from the house at 7.30 to send Ariana then use MEX to get to Wangsa Maju. It was jam like hell and it was nearly 10am by the time I reached Pintu 5 of JPJ Wangsa Maju. I was directed to a nice officer named En. Mohamad Awang and he just verify hb's IC no and printed the award letter.

Took a no and went to Kaunter 40 to  pay the balance of RM285 which I cannot fathom. My tender amount was RM510, and half was paid. So I should be paying another RM255, and not RM285. I asked the person manning Kaunter 40 but did not get a clear explanation.

Going back to the office was really fast and I managed to reach at 11.15am. I informed En. Wahab the status of the loan and plate no and also when to pay the downpayment. We decided to take a RM80,000 loan for 7 years which monthly instalment will be RM1,125 at the rate of 2.58%.

I was hoping to get the car before we go back to kg end of this month as Abah want to follow us to meet his friend Uncle Misban who will be going for Haj this year. The Civic had become too small for us, 2 kids, Abah and Bibik.

We also had a thought of buying bigger car like the Vellfire Abg Pie is using but not now. And I definitely don't want to drive a car that big to my office.
